All colleges and universities receiving federal funds must comply with Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 (Title IX), including the requirement to designate at least one employee to coordinate efforts to comply and carry out the responsibilities under Title IX. Any employee assigned with these responsibilities, however, quickly finds out that this is no small undertaking. The Title IX Coordinator must not only have an in-depth knowledge of Title IX and other state and federal non-discrimination laws, but also must implement policies and procedures, ensure that various notice requirements are met, handle any investigations on complaints, and train staff regarding these requirements. With the increased attention to these issues faced by colleges and universities, it is extremely important for Title IX Coordinators to get these requirements correct.
Please join Richard Verstegen for this important discussion regarding the responsibilities for Title IX Coordinators on campus, which will help employees build solid foundations to ensure that their students are protected and their schools avoid liability.
