One of the lesser known areas covered by Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 (Title IX) relates to pregnancy and parenting students. In recent years, the Department of Education has provided greater attention to this area, including issuing guidance supporting such students and noting that it is imperative for students to avoid discrimination as they strive to stay in school. Schools must ensure their compliance with the laws and regulations, including making accommodations for pregnant students, excusing certain absences for pregnancy or childbirth, and ensuring that such students are not excluded from participating in educational programs.

Please join Richard Verstegen for this discussion regarding the rights afforded to students from discrimination based on pregnancy, childbirth, false pregnancy, termination of pregnancy, or recovery from any of these conditions.
